Karachi: Protesters demand release of Baba Jan and companions
Karachi, April 25: Protesters belonging to the Labour Party of Pakistan held a demonstration in Karachi to demand release of Comrade Baba Jan Hunzai and his companions. The protesters said that Baba Jan and his companions are political prisoners who have been kept in jail without any justification.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favor of the detained leader of Progress Youth Front. It is pertinent to note that Baba Jan had handed himself over to the police after he was charged with the allegations of arson and disruption of law and order in Hunza valley in August last year.
The whole valley was swept with violence on August 11 after police officials shot dead two IDPs belonging to Ayeenabad, Gojal. In reaction the police had registered cases against dozens of people, including political activists belonging to opposition parties.
